It’s that time of year again. We have been enjoying fresh meals from the garden lately. From the time our vegetables are picked to the time they are buttered and on our plates, a whole half hour has passed. Guess what, that freshness is good! There is something about fresh that makes food taste so much better than canned, pickled, frozen, or store bought.
God’s word is like that too. There are a lot of folks out there preaching great sermons from the word of God, writing good books about the word of God, publishing daily or weekly devotions regarding the word of God, writing hymns highlighting the word of God, and even producing movies based on the word of God. As great as all of these are — and yes, I hope you use them too — they just can’t compare to the word of God, fresh from the pages of His book.
“More to be desired are they than gold,
