One of those Projects
Have you ever had one of those projects. You know, the kind where everything seems to go wrong? I don’t know about you, but I hate those days (and weeks)! It all starts out with a nice sounding idea and a simple plan. A few materials, a little time, and presto, it should all come together.
THEN you start getting your materials and realize you need an extra part, or two; and that other piece you made a special trip to town for was not available. A little patience at this point goes a long way, but maybe not long enough.
Now that you patiently acquired all of the materials, for some reason they take a whole lot longer to put together, if you can get them together. The worst part is when that team of custom fabricators — Me, Myself, and I, unlicensed and uninsured — makes cuts to the wrong length. The first cut was too long, as was the second; but the third was too short!
And so it goes on until you want to give up on that quaint little project. But instead, you struggle through to completion and satisfaction.
I wonder if this is how God feels at times with me. He has taken me on as a project and has given me all the materials and instructions I need to be perfect, just like His Son. God only knows how drastically I fail, time and time again. I can honestly say that I am thankful that He has not given up on me, in spite of my turning out to be “one of those projects.”
“being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun
a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.” Philippians 1:6
