I Haven’t Fed The Birds Since Last Winter Because I Got Tired Of Buying Sunflower Seed To Feed The Turkeys. I Hate To Admit It, But They Won. I Ran Out And Chased Them Away, I Don’t Know How Many Times. I Sent The Dog After Them, But She Had Absolutely No Desire To Do Anything With Them. I Shot Them With A Sling Shot. I Shot Them With An Automatic Gel Blaster Gun. Sure, That Got Them To Run Away For A Few Minutes, But They Kept Coming Back. So, I Quit Feeding The Little Birds That I Desired To Watch.
Just The Other Day, As The Weather Got Cold Again, I Thought About Putting Some Feed In The Bird Feeder Again. After All, I Hadn’t Seen The Turkeys Out Here All Summer. But Sure Enough, You Can Only Guess What Came By The Bird Feeder The Very Next Day! I Didn’t Even Get Any Feed Out And There They Were, A Few Turkey Hens With A Dozen Or So Young Ones Waiting For A Meal. I Can’t Hardly Win!!!
Does Soul Winning Ever Feel Like That? You Want To Share The Good News And You Make An Attempt. You Even Get Excited Because You Have Some Good Conversations. But Then You Run Into Those Nay-Sayers And People Who Know Just How To Turn The Conversation About The Good News Sour. You Try To Continue On Sharing The Good News, But They Just Keep Showing Up, Like A Flock Of Turkeys, Ready To Trample On Whatever You Put Out. And So You Give Up And Quit.
Now With Sunflower Seed Costing $0.50 A Pound Or More, I Have A Reason To Stop Feeding The Birds. I Simply Don’t Want To Spend $15 A Month On The Turkeys While There Are Other Bills To Pay. But When It Comes To The Gospel Of Jesus Christ, What Does That Cost Us? We Don’t Have To Pay For It, Jesus Did. We Don’t Have To Go To A Store To Pick It Up Or Find A Place To Store It In The Garage. It Is A Truth That Is Free For All Who Will Believe And It Doesn’t Cost Any More To Share It With Those Who Will Scoff. It Might Take Some Of Our Time And Effort, But There Is No Price On What Jesus Has Already Done!
If Others Want To Take The Good News And Trash It, That Is No Cost To Us. But For Those Who Want To Hear The Good News And Never Hear It, What Does That Cost Them In Eternity?
You Can Feed The Little Birds If You Want To. You Can Even Feed The Turkeys If You Can Afford It. But When It Comes To Sharing The Gospel, The Good News Of Jesus Is Worth Too Much Not To Share.
“How Then Shall They Call On Him In Whom They Have Not Believed? And How Shall They Believe In Him Of Whom They Have Not Heard? And How Shall They Hear Without A Preacher? And How Shall They Preach Unless They Are Sent? As It Is Written, ‘How Beautiful Are The Feet Of The Those Who Preach The Gospel Of Peace, Who Bring Glad Tidings Of Good Things!’” Romans 10:14-15
