What If It Were You?
What If It Were You Who Had Gone To An All-Night Dance Party With Thousands Of Other Young People To Have The Party Broken Up In The Early Morning By Terrorists. What If You Had Seen Others Being Shot, Raped, Or Kidnapped As You Were Fleeing For Your Life? What Would You Do?
What If It Were You, Living In A Small Farming Town Of 400, Seeing 100 Of Your Neighbors Brutally Killed By A Swarm Of Paragliders One Morning? What Would You Do?
What If It Were Your Young Child Or Spouse, Killed Before Your Eyes? What Would You Do?
What If It Were Your Elderly Neighbor Who Was Kidnapped And Taken Hostage? What Would You Do?
What If It Were You? What Would You Do?
To Be Honest, I Don’t Know What I Would Do. After All, What Could Anyone Do? You Can’t Go Back And Do Things Differently. You Can’t Go Back And Do Some Mighty Act Of Heroism. You Can’t Go Back And Change Your Plans For The Weekend. You Can’t Undo The Wrong That Has Already Been Done, No Matter How Terrible It Is And No Matter How Intensely You Want To. I Do Not Know What I Would Do, But I Do Know That I Would Be Looking At Life A Lot More Importantly After Witnessing A Tragedy Like The Hamas Attacks Of October 7 Firsthand. And I Do Know That I Would Be Asking God To Do An Awful Lot, Having Lost Loved Ones In Such A Brutal Fashion. It Was Not Me, This Time, But I Don’t Think That Means I Should Not Seriously Consider What Has Happened. We Should All Look At Life More Importantly Than We Do And We Should All Be Calling On God To Intervene As Though Our Lives Depended On Him. And Yes, Our Lives Do Depend On God.
“Pray Without Ceasing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:17
