Congratulations
It is 2:00 in the morning and you heard and felt a loud crash as somebody busted your front room picture window. Now you hear him crawling into your house! You need to protect your family. Do you grab your .22 or your 9mm? Choose quickly, he is coming down the hall to the bedrooms! Congratulations! You chose your 9mm and saved your family’s lives. While a .22 is better than nothing, it just does not have enough stopping power for self-defense.
Suppose you are out hunting elk in the Tetons and you and your 12-year-old son just got to your freshly killed prize. You set your pack down next to the carcass and reach for your knife to gut it out. What’s that sound? It’s a grizzly, coming quick. Do you put your knife back and grab your .45 or do you get a tighter grip on your old reliable gutting knife? Congratulations! You chose your .45 caliber and saved your lives.
Suppose you are moving forward to your next position and there is intense enemy fire coming from the stone building on top of the hill. You and 5 others are trapped in your position with nothing but your M4A1’s. Do you yell “Wolverines!” and charge the hill or do you call for close air support? Congratulations! You chose air support and after a rocket from the UH-Y1 Venom, the enemy position was reduced to rubble. You and your team are still alive to complete your mission.
Suppose your neighbors are lost in sin and going to Hell. You have been burdened for them for quite some time and praying about an opportunity to engage them in a spiritual conversation. As it turns out, their young son’s appendix ruptured yesterday, and he almost died. You are stopping in at the hospital to check on them today and find them very relieved to get through this scary time. They are searching for hope. Do you pull out your Bible and share the Gospel or do you pat them on the back and say “you’re in our thoughts”? Congratulations! You chose to share the Gospel and your neighbors received Jesus Christ!
When life is on the line, choose the strongest thing you have on hand. When eternal life is on the line, choose the strongest thing you have on hand. Don’t be ashamed to choose the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes…” Romans 1:16
