More
Several years ago, we had a lot of family visit for a few days. We wanted to treat them to the Hulett experience, so we grilled antelope one night for everyone to try. There were some questionable looks when it came time to eat our local treat, but they all said that it was good. But it was better than good. They loved it! I knew they loved it because the heaping platter of grilled meat was entirely gone by the end of the meal. They wanted more. That seems to be how it works. When you love someone or something, you want more.
If you like to garden, you might plant a couple raised beds and talk about how many tomatoes you got from your three plants. If you love to garden, you plant more, weed more, and harvest more – a lot more!
If you like your spouse, you might see each other a couple hours every night and schedule a weekend here and there so you can be together a few times a year. If you love your spouse, you look forward to seeing each other and doing things together more – more every night and more every weekend.
If you like to fish, you might go out with some friends a few times a year. If you love to fish, you will go out more – every weekend, rain or shine and even on the ice. If you like to hunt, you might go to hunting camp in the fall and try to shoot a buck. If you love to hunt, you will probably read more magazines, apply for more tags, and take more time off to hunt the deer, turkeys, elk, buffalos, and more.
Do you like Jesus? If yes, you might say a prayer before meals and you might read your Bible a few times a year. You might even go to church once in a while to worship. But if you love Jesus, you will want and do more. Your prayer time will be every day, at meals and in private. You will find yourself meditating about and talking to Jesus while driving your car and even while doing chores. If you love Jesus, your Bible reading will never be done, there will always be more of God’s word that you want to read and learn. Others might find it a chore to fit church into their busy Sunday schedule, but when you love Jesus, you will find that that one short hour of church Sunday morning is not enough. You will want more worship, more Bible studies, more fellowship and more opportunities to serve and tell others about Jesus, the One you love. How much do you love Jesus? Do you love Him so much that you want more?
“Then He turned to the woman and said to Simon, ‘Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave Me no water for My feet, but she has washed My feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head. You gave Me no kiss, but this woman has not ceased to kiss My feet since the time I came in. You did not anoint My head with oil, but this woman has anointed My feet with fragrant oil. Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little.’” Luke 7:44-47
