Wouldn’t it be nice if toddlers slept until 7:00 every morning – later on days off – and then woke up “bright eyed and bushy tailed”?
Wouldn’t it be nice if toddlers never fell down or got “owies”?
Wouldn’t it be nice if toddlers never got sick?
Wouldn’t it be nice if toddlers never got hungry or tired?
Wouldn’t it be nice if toddlers understood where we were going and what we were going to do there?
Wouldn’t it be nice if toddlers could safely strap themselves into their 5-point safety harness all by themselves?
Wouldn’t it be nice if toddlers never tested the limits or did things to get in trouble?
Wouldn’t it be nice if toddlers could control their emotions?
But on the other hand, if the life of a toddler was “nice”, I guess they wouldn’t need us at all. I guess we would never get a chance to hold them, to comfort them, to train them, or to love them.
The same goes for us. As long as life is hard, far from being nice, and beyond what we can handle, we have all the more reason to go to God for His embrace, for His comfort, for His training, and for His love.
Thankyou God for adversity. Thankyou God for being there for us in all those times that are not so nice.
“Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace,
that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
