I walked into the truck shop the other day and was offered a position. No, not changing tires or fixing brakes and broken equipment, I was offered a job on the clean-up crew. We dug out the foundation for the new church addition yesterday. I say “we”, even though I did not operate the back hoe or skid steer. But I did pick up the broom and shovel and clean up some of the mess. It doesn’t take much talent, so I was qualified, to be part of the clean-up crew.
Think of any job around, whether in the office, ranch, diner, or home. Wherever work is being done, there is always a need for more people on the clean-up crew.
There is a position available in our church today. Just watch and see all the people in our community working hard at this job called life. Have you seen all the messes they – WE! – get into? Then, jump in and take a job on the clean-up crew.
No experience necessary. No education required. Just take along the gospel of peace and be ready to listen and clean things up with the comfort that comes from Christ.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,
who comforts us in all our tribulation,
that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble,
with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”
2 Corinthians 1:3-4
