Do you ever have reservations in life?

Have you ever woken up in the morning and everything in the whole house, except the alarm clock, was quiet, peaceful, and calm?  Even though getting up was the right thing to do and there was so much to get done, you might have had reservations about waking the kids up just yet.

Have you ever had one of those mornings when you thought you were hungry and the fried eggs and bacon looked and smelled oh so good?  But, you couldn’t quite tell if your stomach wasn’t just a little bit nautious, like you might be coming down with the flu or something.  I remember that scenario and 8 hours later knowing that I should have followed my reservations about breakfast that morning.

Have you ever had to contact somebody about something important but weren’t sure just what you would say or how you would start the conversation?  This happens to me all the time and, yes, I have my reservations.

Have you ever been in the middle of a project and you had to make a decision to try to remove the part carefully or destroy the part easily, but you weren’t sure if you could make it to the hardware store before they closed for the day?  And, you wondered if they would even have one of those fittings on hand.  You might have had reservations about what to do.

Have you ever been cutting apart something with your pocket knife and stopped to think that how you were using your knife was not safe and, in fact, kind of stupid.  You should follow those reservations.

Have you ever had a conversation with someone who didn’t know you well and you just went on and on and on?  Remember going home that night and regretting pretty much everything you said?  You should have had reservations.

Yes, we all have reservations about many things in life.  But when it comes to eternity, there is only one reservation that matters.  That one reservation is the gospel, the guarantee of eternal life that Jesus secured for us when He died on the cross for our sins and rose again in victory over death.  Have no reservations about where you will spend eternity.  Receive Jesus’ reservation for you by faith today!

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according

to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible

and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you.”

1 Peter 1:3-4
