What are some of the benefits of being saved? (continued…)
Ephesians 1:3-14
- He reveals His will with us (9),
I always enjoyed science classes in school because they attempted to explain how things work. My favorite class was biology and I was one of those weirdos who enjoyed memorizing the parts of cells and the pathways of photosynthesis. As I look outside my office window, I can’t help but marvel at now, as the sun just begins to shine over our little town, how many cells in the millions of leaves in my view are just beginning to get exposed to sunlight and just beginning to embark on that seemingly complicated process of photosynthesis. But, for the leaf, this is nothing complicated or complex. It is just one more day at the office, “another day another sugar molecule,” as they would say in the world of chloroplasts. But for me, for every little bit more that I know, I will be so much more fascinated by what is taking place.
It is the same way with eternal life. At the moment of our salvation, we know so little about what is going on. At the very least, we believe that God is holy, we are sinners, and Jesus died and rose again for us. But beginning at salvation, God starts to reveal the complexities of eternal life in a way that we never fathomed before. And the more we study His word and the more we see His will played out in the world around us, the more we are fascinated at how and why God works. When we are saved, God reveals His will with us so that we can understand Him a little more and marvel so much more about who He is and what He is doing.
