What are some of the benefits of being saved? (continued…)
Ephesians 1:3-14
- We partake in the praise of His glory (6, 12, 14),
There is a lot of excitement in Hulett, Wyoming. The President of the United States is coming to visit. The number of secret service agents alone is probably going to double the town’s population for the week ahead of the visit. Our biggest venue for such an occasion is the Greater Hulett Community Center and I think it maxes out at about 320 seats. I have seen it that full for a funeral or two. But just the president and all his entourage is going to take up half of that seating. And then, for security’s sake, I am sure they are not going to fill that old building up to maximum capacity. Long story short, only a few of us Hulettites will be chosen to participate in such a grandiose event in our small town. Who will they pick? I’m sure the mayor, the town council, the policeman, and the bigger business owners will be there along with their families. It does not leave much room for more. How will they decide who else gets to go? Will you be one of the fortunate ones to be selected to gather together and praise in the glory of the President?
Of course I am not serious. The president of the United States is not coming to Hulett. But I think you get the idea. Whether you love or hate the current president, I am sure we would all have some excitement at the chance to be in close proximity to the man who is in all the headlines around the world.
That is what Paul is talking about when he mentions partaking in the praise of God’s glory. The president of the United States is small beans compared to the God of the universe. And yet, only a privileged few will be able to praise His glory in His immediate presence. Who will those privileged few be? They will be all of us who are saved! I am looking forward to it. I hope to see you there!
