The Extra Mile
It Was Hard To Evangelize The Lost 20 Years Ago, When It Seemed Like Everybody In Our Country Grew Up With Sunday School And At Least Knew Who Jesus, Moses, And David Were. It Took A Lot Of Work To Refocus People Who Were Familiar With God’s Word To A Clear Belief In Salvation By Grace Through Faith In Jesus Christ. It Took Work, But It Was Doable. In Fact, That Is About The Time That I Came To Faith In Jesus Christ. Miracles Happen:)
But, All Of A Sudden, It Seems Like The Majority Of Our Nation Are Completely Ignorant Of Even The Most Basic Bible Stories. We Could Argue About Why This Has Happened And Point A Lot Of Fingers At A Lot Of Different Causes, But Where Does That Get The Gospel? The Reality Is That If It Took Work 20 Years Ago To Share The Gospel, It Is Going To Take A Lot More Work Today. No Longer Can We Depend On A Simple Knowledge Of The Bible Among The Lost. We Cannot Expect To Sit Down With An Unbeliever And Redirect Them On The Map They Partly Learned In Sunday School Or From A Grandparent. Now, We Must Sit Down With An Unbeliever And Draw Them A Brand-New Map From The Scriptures, A Map That Is Going To Come With A Lot Of Extra Questions. If We Are Going To Engage The Lost Today, We Must Be Willing To Go The Extra Mile To Bring Them To Jesus.
But Why Do I Say If As Though It Is A Choice That We Casually Make? We Will Go The Extra Mile To Win The Lost To Jesus.
“And Whoever Compels You To Go One Mile,
Go With Him Two.” Matthew 5:41
