What shall I glory in today?
Jeremiah 9:23-24
I could glory in my wisdom. I could boast in all my educational accomplishments and achievements. I could glory in my superior mental abilities and acuities. I could glory in the fact that I used the word “acuity” today!
I could glory in my strength and speed. I could glory in my health. As the old proverb goes, “if you haven’t got your health, you haven’t got anything.” I could glory in my good looks and charm.
I could glory in my riches. I could glory in my monetary achievements for today, this week, or this year. I could glory in my savings and retirement accounts. I could glory in my ability to purchase things to make my life better than yours.
But, looking around at everybody else’s wisdom, strength, and riches, I would be a fool to glory in the little bit of these that I happen to possess. What is there that is so fabulous in which I can glory and never be ashamed? This I will glory in, that I know the Lord!
